PRODUCTION SOUND MIXING
Responsible for the overall quality of sound recorded during filming, the Production Sound Mixer plans how sound will be recorded on set, determines what equipment will be used to achieve the best results, operates the equipment to record the sound as cleanly as possible, leads a team of sound specialists to effectively execute the plan, and much, much more.
It's safe to say that this is no small job and it requires a significant amount of skill and experience to do well. Whether operating solo with a bag setup for a run-and-gun shoot or leading a larger team using a cart-based system for bigger productions, Shinobi Sound is fully capable of providing Production Sound Mixing for projects of all sizes.
BOOM OPERATION
The boom microphone is arguably the most important sound source on set given it's ability to capture natural sounding dialogue while maintaining a sense of perspective; both in terms of space (the environment in which the audio is recorded) and distance (how far from the camera the actor is). Therefore, the job of a boom operator is not to be taken lightly and is a skill we pride ourselves in being experts at.
SOUND UTILITY
Generally known as the skilled technician who's able to quickly & effectively lav talent, troubleshoot cabling issues, and monitor & assess the status of audio equipment during takes, the Sound Utility is a crucial team member on larger sets who assists the Production Sound Mixer with whatever is needed in the moment to ensure that the production goes off without a hitch. The high level of perceptiveness and adaptability required of this role is ingrained in everything that we do at Shinobi Sound.
